What happened
According to ICT, Lobsang Dorje, a 25-year-old former Kirti monk, set fire to himself on 13 February 2014 on the main road near Kirti Monastery in Ngaba county town, after attending a monastic mask dance that morning. It was the same street where Kirti monk Tapey carried out the first self-immolation protest inside Tibet in February 2009. He was still alive when Chinese security forces took him away.
Aftermath
Kirti monks in exile said it was not known whether he was alive or where he had been taken; ICT reported that security was intensified in Ngaba afterwards.
