What happened
According to ICT and the Central Tibetan Administration, Passang Lhamo, 62, from Kyegudo (Ch: Yushu), set fire to herself in Beijing on 13 September 2012 after repeated appeals to the central authorities failed to stop the loss of her home. Her home had been demolished during the post-earthquake reconstruction of Kyegudo, and news of her protest emerged only months later because of security restrictions.
