What happened

According to ICT, Nyangkar Tashi set fire to himself at around 3:15 pm on 12 November 2012 at Kadmar Thang in Dowa township, Rebkong (Ch: Tongren), while Tibetans were gathered to pray for Tamding Tso and Jinpa Gyatso, who had self-immolated days earlier. He called for the long life of the Dalai Lama and a free Tibet, and died.

Aftermath

Exile sources told ICT that the people gathered did not allow Chinese security forces to take his remains and carried him back to his village.
