What happened

According to Radio Free Asia's Tibetan service, as cited by ICT, Kunchok Tsomo carried out a self-immolation protest in late March 2013 against the planned destruction of her home in Kyegudo (Ch: Yushu), as local authorities demolished homes to rebuild the town after the 2010 earthquake. Chinese armed police put out the flames and took her to hospital, and she recovered, Tibetan sources said. ICT described her as the third Tibetan from Kyegudo to self-immolate over land rights after the earthquake.

Aftermath

Returned to her home town under close official supervision; not known whether her land was returned (ICT, citing Tibetan sources).
