What happened

According to ICT, citing two Kirti monks in exile, Konpe set fire to himself in Ngaba (Ch: Aba) on 23 December 2017, close to the site of the first self-immolation protest inside Tibet in 2009. He was immediately taken away by Chinese security forces and had died by the following morning.

Aftermath

Taken away by Chinese security forces immediately after his protest (ICT).
