What happened

Radio Free Asia reported, as cited by ICT, that Kalsang Wangdu, an 18-year-old monk, set fire to himself around 4 pm near his monastery, Retsokha Aryaling, in Nyagrong (Ch: Xinlong) County. A Tibetan source told RFA that he called out for Tibet's complete independence. Witnesses intervened intending to take him for treatment in Chengdu, but he died.
