What happened

According to ICT, Jinpa Gyatso set fire to himself in Rebkong (Ch: Tongren) on 8 November 2012 and died; a Tibetan source in exile said he could be heard calling for the return of the Dalai Lama to Tibet. ICT reported that local Tibetans carried his body to a site where high lamas are cremated.

Aftermath

According to exile sources cited by ICT, after the cremation Tibetans gathered at the square where he died, some calling for the Dalai Lama’s long life and return to Tibet.
