What happened

According to ICT, citing Tibetan sources, Drugkho, a young man, set fire to himself in Ngaba (Ch: Aba) on 8 December 2018. ICT said news of the protest circulated in Tibetan-language media but was hard to confirm because Chinese authorities imposed an information blackout and punish Tibetans who share such news. Radio Free Asia separately reported the protest, citing a source in Tibet, and said the man, from Soruma in Ngaba county and thought to be in his twenties, had called for the long life of the Dalai Lama and freedom in Tibet, according to the Tibet Post International.
