What happened

According to ICT, Chagmo Kyi, a mother of two, set fire to herself at around 4 pm on 17 November 2012 in Dolma Square, Rebkong (Ch: Tongren), and died. ICT reported that lay Tibetans and monks gathered to mark her death despite a heavy military build-up in the area, and that hundreds attended her cremation.

Aftermath

According to Tibetan sources cited by ICT, those attending her cremation were surrounded by troops.
