V-TAG Dehradun conducted an advocacy session for Classes XI and XII at Tibetan Homes School, Mussoorie, providing students with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Tibet’s cultural heritage, national identity, and contemporary issues.
The session began with Tsering Dolkar la, Dehradun Coordinator, introducing V-TAG, its objectives, and its advocacy initiatives. This was followed by an address from Tenzin Woesel Takrang la, National Coordinator of V-TAG India, on the theme “Tibet: Culture, Heritage & Identity.” His presentation explored the significance of preserving Tibetan traditions, understanding Tibetan identity, and encouraging young people to engage meaningfully with Tibet-related issues.
Encouraging Critical Thinking Through Debate
The session concluded with an interactive student debate on the topic “Tibet Is Not a Part of China.” Students actively participated, shared their perspectives, raised thoughtful questions, and engaged with the subject through discussion and critical analysis. The debate provided a platform for students to articulate their views while developing their confidence in discussing historical and political questions concerning Tibet.
The participation and curiosity demonstrated by the students contributed to a meaningful exchange of ideas. The session also reflected the importance of educational institutions in creating spaces for learning, dialogue, and youth engagement.
V-TAG Dehradun extends its sincere gratitude to Tibetan Homes School, Mussoorie, for its warm welcome and for providing the opportunity to interact with the students. Through continued outreach to educational institutions, V-TAG aims to encourage greater awareness of Tibet, strengthen cultural understanding, and inspire young people to engage thoughtfully with issues affecting Tibetan identity and heritage.
