What happened

According to ICT, citing Kirti monks in exile, 18-year-old nun Tenzin Choedron set fire to herself early in the evening of 11 February 2012, shouting slogans against the Chinese government, at the same place below her nunnery where nun Tenzin Wangmo had protested months earlier. She was taken away by soldiers and Chinese security forces and died soon afterwards.
