What happened

According to ICT, Pema Gyaltsen carried out a self-immolation protest in Nyagrong, Kham, on 18 March 2017 and was taken away by Chinese security forces. Voice of America's Tibetan service later learned that he was still alive and believed to be in hospital in Chengdu, ICT reported.
