What happened
Phayul, cited by ICT, reported that Dickyi Choezom, a mother of two in her forties, set fire to herself in Kyegu town near Dhondupling Monastery on 27 June 2012. Chinese security personnel put out the flames and took her away, reportedly to a hospital in Siling (Ch: Xining). Her protest followed local protests against land seizures and redevelopment plans imposed after the 2010 earthquake.
Aftermath
According to an exile monk quoted by Phayul, Chinese security forces arrested two of her relatives; they were released later that day after many Tibetans gathered to demand their release, but had reportedly been badly beaten.
